Tues, Sep 6 - First full day at Yellowstone

Tue Sep 6 Day 9 sunny & clear, forecast to 76, lows in 30’s but it’s not cold at night
Today Paul & Yvonne have gone off to do a 10 km hike. Our plan is to go to the visitor center for tourist info & maybe the Grizzly & Wolf Centre, (live wolves & bears).
Off with Vicki & Sheila to visitor centre and found that each RV needs a $25 park pass to transit park roads. Then over to KIWI’s, for lunch, buffalo burgers are ½ pound! Then over to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Centre for the afternoon. Saw Grizzly’s in their large enclosure rooting through piled logs for planted food. Saw a couple of wolves and attended 2 ranger talks, one on bears & one on the Canids of Yellowstone, (wolf, coyote, fox), plus a movie on living in bear country, (made in BC, Ontario & NWT). Back to the RV for supper. Then out again to a Ranger talk on the bison, (buffalo), of Yellowstone Park. Some interesting facts: Population varies from 3,000 to 4,000 animals. The male can weigh up to 2,000 pounds & the female 1,000 pounds; they may live 12 -15 years. They can run up to 30 mph and, amazingly, jump up to 6 feet!
