Mar 6 Sun. Day 48 Sunny & warm, a slight breeze.
Made it up the W.VB by 9:45 & played to noon as usual. We split into two pools again today. After, I had a long hot tub session, while Sheila swam lengths. We had lunch at home then drove to the Elks Hall, (1 block east of Lyon on Florida) for their Sunday Open House. The first Sunday of the month they have Bluegrass music so we are going to check it out. Joan & Andre Toth from our Dogwood Roamers RV Club met us there. (They are currently staying at Mountain Valley RV park.) We arrived at 3 & they were 10 mins behind us. We sat with Larry Stephens, (he plays at GVP & the other 3 Sundays of the month at the Elks lodge), & his wife Sherrie for a while. The bluegrass group was large, 6 back-up musicians who stayed on stage the whole time with different singers switching in & out. Sheila said it seemed more country than Bluegrass to her because there were no fiddlers. Actually there was one musician who had a fiddle but mostly played guitar however he did do a great “Orange Blossom Special”. We stayed till 6, talking, danced a few numbers, & ordered appetizers for supper. There was no admission charge this time, but you were encouraged to buy tickets on a 50/25/25 draw. Tickets were $5 for 10 and that covered us both but then no free drink with admission like last time, ($5.00 each including 2 free drinks). Andre won $50.00 on the second 25 part! Mixed drinks, like Sheila’s OJ/Cranberry juice with vodka, cost $3.00 & pop was $1.50. We stopped at WinCo on the way home, picked up some groceries and then settled in to watch “The Silence of the Lambs” on a DVD Sheila had borrowed from Yvonne. It certainly is a suspenseful, compelling movie, much like Criminal Minds on TV, but without the commercials! Immediately following it we watched CSI Miami on TV. Sheila was shaking by then, but is glad she finally got to see the movie everyone talks about.
