Mar 18 Friday - We buy a GPS

Mar 18 Fri Day 60 clear & sunny in Hemet & Palm Springs

Our last hours at GVP start with the Fri morn breakfast at Palms Café. This week it was a biscuit with delicious creamy gravy poured over it, a sausage & scrambled eggs. Then, while Sheila headed to the 99 cent store for some last minute purchases, I dumped the tanks & packed up to head north, well, not far north, just to Palm Springs to see Bob & Lois & hopefully buy a GPS. Out GVP @ 10:00 am @ 136502kms; gas stop Pilot stn in Palm Springs, in 10:55 @ 136594 out 11:05; into Wal-Mart on Ramon Road 11:20 @ 136577.
We checked and OK to overnight for 24 hrs, for longer they said go to the Wal-Mart on Monterey Ave. for a 72 hr. stay. We drove out to find Best Buy but couldn’t find the store at Sunrise & Vista Chino so we returned to RV for a quick bit of lunch & then we were off to the next Best Buy at Hwy 111 & Town Centre Way. On the way there, we drove down Monterey & located the Wal-Mart in case we want to move. Then we finally located Best Buy after missing it & driving around for 5 to 10 minutes, I guess we really do need a GPS. Success, we got our Garmin model 1450 LMT. Now I have to figure out how to use it. The sales clerk said that there were only 2 stores not 3 in Palm Springs & that he thought plans had been drawn up for a third but it was never built. Of course, that was the one I decided to go to! We went over to visit Bob & Lois on our way home. Got there around 3:30, went for a swim & hot tub with them, then, back to the 5th wheel they had rented. It’s 40 ft. long, with a large slide all the way down one side, so has lots of room inside. We ate supper outside & then moved indoors for coffee & dessert. Lois said there was a library with good WiFi near the Mizah Senior Centre at Ramon Rd & Sunrise. She also mentioned that, on Thursdays the Senior’s Centre runs a movie with popcorn for seniors—no charge! Last week they saw, “Social Network”, and liked it. After our delicious dinner & a pleasant visit, we returned home by approximately 9:30 pm.
